Every morning.

New building permits for the work you do.

Today's Permits is a monthly list for contractors. You check the counties you cover and the work you do. Each morning those jobs are on the list: the address, the description, the value, and a link to the official record.

The service

One morning list for the counties you work.

You cover a few counties and a few kinds of work. A pool company sees pool jobs in the counties it checked. A roofer sees roofs there, or in a different set of counties.

A sub uses the same list the other way. The permit is already pulled. You want the job, and the company that pulled it, so you can bid the work.

Once a week, a short note summarizes the counties on your plan. Each county in that note links straight to that county's list. There is no spreadsheet.

On each permit

  • The street, the city, and the ZIP when the record has one
  • What the permit says the job is
  • The job value, when the county prints one
  • The county, the permit number, and the issue date
  • A link to look the permit up on the city or county site

How it works

Four steps. Then you make the call.

1

Pick your counties

Check the counties you work. New counties join the plan as their public lists come in.

2

Pick your work

Pool, fence, roof, HVAC, a new home, a remodel. You check the work you want to see.

3

Open the list in the morning

Search a ZIP, a city, or a county. The last two weeks of issued permits are there.

4

Open the record and call

The link goes to the city or county lookup. You confirm the job, then you call.

Places

Live in three Florida counties.

These are the public lists on the plan today. A city inside a county shows up under that county.

Orange County

City of Orlando building permits. Search the city name or the street. Orlando does not print a ZIP on this list.

Miami-Dade County

County permits and City of Miami permits. Both sit under Miami-Dade. Search Miami, a street, or the county name.

Lee County

Cape Coral. This list includes the ZIP, so a search for 33904 returns those jobs.

The work

You check the groups. The list follows.

A customer on the plan checks counties and these groups. Inside a group, the list can still be one trade.

Price

One monthly plan.

Your counties. Your work.

You check the counties and the trades. That selection is what the subscription covers. More counties join the same plan as the public lists come in. The dollar amount goes on this page when you can subscribe from here.

Questions

What contractors ask.

What do I get each morning?

Permits issued over the last two weeks, for the counties and the work on your plan. Each row has the address, the description, the value when the county prints one, and a link to the official record.

Which counties are on it?

The counties with a public list we can read. What is live today is under Places. You check the ones you cover, and more counties come on as we add them.

Can I see only pools, or only roofs?

Yes. The plan is the trades you check. On the list you can also tap one trade and search a ZIP, a city, or a county.

I subcontract. I want the company that pulled the permit.

That is a real way to use the list. When the public record names the company, or a phone, that belongs on the card. Today the card shows the job and the link to the official record, where you can see who pulled it.

Is this the county website?

No. The city or county issued the permit. Today's Permits lists it and links you to their lookup page. Inspections, documents, and the official status stay on their site.

Do you send a newsletter?

Once a week. It summarizes the counties on your plan, and each county links to that county's list. You still open the list each morning. There is no spreadsheet.

What does it cost, and can I cancel?

It is a month-to-month plan for the counties and trades you check. The price is not posted yet, and checkout is not open. Cancel terms go up with the price.
